- As the table on the catalogue page was getting rather cumbersome, it has now been replaced by a link to a downloadable version in PDF format with embedded links to the transcription extracts.
- After a period of inactivity we have made quite a few changes and would welcome some feedback, please use the Guestbook and let us know.

Here, at last, is the report on the events over the past 12 months.
Due to personal commitments of the members, progress on recordings and transcriptions has been slower than anticipated.
It is hoped to add up-dates to the website on a more regular basis from now on, approximately every 2 months or so depending on what news we have to
report.
- A new member joined us last October taking our number to 11, and is now working on transcriptions.
- With 3 members now busy transcribing, we are slowly clearing the huge back-log, plus we have also made a further 7 recordings in the past 4 months and are starting to arrange more, but this does take time.
- All the completed transcriptions have now been placed on to CD for archival purposes and we have also begun to copy our back catalogue of recordings on to CD as well.
- We have now begun placing our recordings onto CD as well as cassette tape and offering the respondent a choice for their own copy as some people no longer have cassette players, so they can now choose the form appropriate for them.
- The Group's 10th Anniversary was celebrated, last year, with an exhibition during the Heritage Open Days Weekend in Millom (Organised by English Heritage & The Civic Trust) which was very well received by both local people and visitors, and there was much reminiscing over the whole 4 days!
- A booklet about Millom, which was produced by Millom Folk Museum and for which the Group provided transcription extracts to accompany the pictures, was published last September and has proved to be popular, it is called 'Iron Town Millom'. Details from the Folk Museum (information@millomfolkmuseum.co.uk).
- The Group was approached in March and asked if it could provide extracts of recordings to be used in a promotional film for Millom, commissioned by the Millom & Haverigg Regeneration Group.
- The extracts subsequently provided were used in conjunction with shots of the Hodbarrow Mine Shaft which has been recreated at the Folk Museum.
- Recent recollections of one person where not recorded, but where received as hand-written memories, due to the person being unwell and not feeling up to being recorded, they did however feel able to write their memories down.
- This was welcomed by the Group especially as the memories cover living in Guernsey during the time of the German Occupation. These memories will be added to the audio collection with a member of the Group reading it to make the recording.
- The secretary has 2 other written memories she was given several years ago and these will also be added to the audio collection in the near future.
- NEW:- We are in the process of making brief extracts of the transcriptions available to download as an Adobe PDF, visit our Catalogue page and click the links in the table under "PDF".
Recently made recordings:
079(a & b); 080; 081; 082; 083; 084; 085.
Completed transcriptions recently added to the Reference Collection in Millom Library:
030; 044; 045; 054; 056; 057; 058; 059; 062; 063; 066; 083.
As always if you would like to have your memories recorded or would like to write your own to be read by a Group
member for recording, please do let us know.
If you would like to be involved in recording the memories of local people please get in touch with the Secretary.
